Irish Hairdressing Council appoints Fiona Gainfort as president

The Irish Hairdressing Council (IHC) has announced Fiona Gainfort as its new president and Melissa Hayward as vice-president.

Gainfort takes over from outgoing president Debbie O’Keeffe Crinnion. Acknowledging her work, the IHC said O’Keeffe Crinnion has played a pivotal role in advocating for hair professionals across the country.

Gainfort co-owns Gainfort Hair & Beauty Supplies, Gainfort Salon Design and Gainfort Academy. With 30 years of industry experience, she is committed to driving innovation and strengthening professional standards.

Hayward owns Melissa Hayward Academy, and has been a pioneer in hair extensions for over two decades. She is passionate about training stylists and elevating industry expertise.

As a voluntary organisation, the IHC’s mission is to support and empower hairdressers nationwide through education, advocacy, and community-building.

Gainfort and Hayward, along with the IHC board, said that going forward, they they aim to enhance opportunities for hair professionals, ensuring the industry thrives.
