Irish Hotel Awards recognise spa industry

The Corick Country House Hotel in Clogher, Co Tyrone was named Spa Hotel of the Year at the recent Irish Hotel Awards 2019.

Now in their third year, the awards took place on 8 April in The Galmont Hotel & Spa in Galway.

Secluded in the heart of Clogher Valley, the winning spa places a strong emphasis on the curative powers of nature and water. The thermal area features a hydro therapy massage pool, experience shower, steam room, sauna and thermal lounger. There are also eight treatment rooms.

Spa Manager of the Year was Alison McGrath from Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa in Limerick, while the winner of Spa Therapist of the Year was Laoise O’Connor from The Galmont Hotel & Spa in Galway.

“Each and everyone of our members has been individually assessed and our winners were judged by a panel of industry professionals,” said Shane Smith, managing director of NI Media, which runs the event. “The figures for the early part of the year show a +7pc in overseas arrivals and this is in no small part due to the efforts of hospitality professionals across the island.”
