Beauty educator Lorna Melay has opened a clinic in Co Carlow, which will offer tailored treatments designed to restore and rebalance skin.
Located in Bunclody in the county, Advanced Aesthetics Clinic & Apothecary aims to combine advanced techniques with natural, holistic care.
With a background in beauty therapy, advanced aesthetics and education, Melay is also an apprentice herbalist. She won Educator of the Year at the Beauty, Hair & Spa Awards 2024, and is a finalist in the same category for the Beauty, Hair & Spa Awards 2026.
“Advanced Aesthetics Clinic & Apothecary has been a long-held vision of mine; one that goes beyond treatments,” she explained. “It’s about creating a space where advanced, results-driven aesthetics meets holistic healing, supporting clients both inside and out.
“While I continue to work as an advanced aesthetics educator, I felt a strong pull back to the clinic environment to stay connected to treatments, results and, most importantly, building meaningful client relationships. This new venture allows me to bring both worlds together.”
Melay said that the clinic’s Integration Suite is at the heart of her offering. ““It’s a calm, light-filled environment designed for rest, reflection and connection. Overlooking Mount Leinster, the same mountain that framed the view from my childhood bedroom, it holds a deeply personal connection for me.
“It will host women’s circles, meditation, yoga, workshops and collaborative events with like-minded practitioners, creating a true sense of community within the space. Clients are invited to spend time here following their treatments, allowing the body and mind to fully absorb, reset and integrate the benefits of their experience. With natural light, a grounding atmosphere and light refreshments, including adaptogenic cocktails and personalised herbal teas, it transforms a treatment into a complete wellbeing ritual.”
As she continues her herbalism studies, Melay plans to introduce plant-based remedies and apothecary offerings.
“More than a clinic, this is a space designed to help people step out of the noise, reconnect with themselves and feel part of something,” she added. “My dream is to create a community rooted in education, empowerment and genuine self-care.”
