Irish-born celebrity hairstylist Gareth Bromell created Cillian Murphy's Oscar-winning look for the recent awards ceremony in LA.

Bromell has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the entertainment and fashion industries, with the 38-year-old working between Ireland, Los Angeles, New York, Paris and London.

The Limerick man began his hairdressing career at the age of 15, working with salons such as the Hugh Campbell Hair Group and TONI&GUY. He went on to live in London, where he worked with some top UK hairstylists.

Now an international celebrity hairstylist, he told RTÉ.ie that preparation for Murphy's big night started a few days before with a facial to rehydrate his skin after travelling to the US. “We relied on Sisley and Current Body LED Mask to help soothe and restore Cillian’s natural complexion,” he said.

According to the stylist, Murphy “has the best hair”. “So we always work to enhance his natural texture, create body and frame his strong angular face.

“Hair, for me, needs to be structured with a good setting product that still allows you to reshape while still holding throughout the night. It’s that perfect balance of hold and malleability. The Dyson Supersonic hairdryer helped with holding Cillian’s volume on the night.”

Bromell said he was very grateful to be part of Murphy's career. “It’s mind blowing. We are such a close team and to share this is extraordinary experience is an absolute dream.”
