Colour appointments were the most sought after service when salons in Ireland reopened after the lockdown, according to Phorest.

The salon software company saw a total of 91,000 colour service appointments made in the first week in Ireland after the Government’s announcement on 20 June that salons could reopen on 29 June.

Cuts and styling came in a close second, followed by lashes/brows, which had 32,667 appointments made in the first week alone. Styling (blow dries and updos) and nails were the fourth and fifth most sought after treatments respectively.

The stats showed also that Irish people are taking advantage of their ‘new normal’ flexi-working arrangements, with 53.56% of appointments booked between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Thursday. This is up 10% on last year’s stats and rising, with popular weekend slots filling out fast.

Furthermore, 62% of people who bought a gift voucher online during lockdown have already secured a appointment in those first weeks back, compared to just 12.5% who didn’t purchase a gift voucher.

Meanwhile, 782 men joined the rush to secure their wax appointment within the first week of the salon reopening date.
