Cork hairstylist launches new haircare brand

Cork hair stylist and entrepreneur Ciarán O’Sullivan has launched his own haircare brand.

KiwiSalt is a pure Irish sea salt spray that is the first in a new range of haircare products created by the professional hair stylist and barber in Cork.

Originally from Glengarriff, West Cork, O’Sullivan began his career in hairdressing and barbering at the age of 16. He opened his first barbershop KiwiCutz in Cork city in 2018, and used the pandemic lockdown of 2021 to refine and develop his plans for a new Irish haircare offering, working with a cosmetic chemist to create his range.

KiwiSalt uses natural Achill Island sea salt, which is organically hand-harvested in small batches, using a slow evaporation process. This preserves its high mineral content, vitamins and amino acids, which are naturally therapeutic and support stronger hair.

According to O’Sullivan, combined with the exfoliating effect of sea salt, the new spray contributes to a healthier scalp and hair that is easier to manage. The product also features kiwi extract, which is another certified organic ingredient.

I wanted an authentic Irish product, with organically sourced ingredients, that is also a professional-grade haircare treatment,” said O’Sullivan, who is better known by his nickname Kiwi. A good quality personal grooming product means busy clients can achieve their salon look in the weeks in between salon visits.”

The KiwiSalt collection will comprise both hair styling products and skincare products, aimed at male and female clients.
