Donegal stylist among competitors on The Big Blow Out

A Donegal stylist is the only Irish competitor on The Big Blow Out, E4’s new reality TV show, which centres on hairdressing.

Raymond Bryson, who is 34 and left Donegal 11 years ago, originally studied law in Dublin before moving into hairdressing.

From the makers of The Great British Bake Off and hosted by AJ Odudu, The Big Blow Out sees 11 experienced hairstylists compete in a number of hair challenges that take their creativity and talent, and push it to the next level.

The stylists are competing before hairdresser Sam McKnight and Lisa Farrall, Matrix ambassador UK & Ireland.

According to Bryson's show profile, he is a great all-rounder, with a background in both salon and session styling. He has worked on a number of fashion weeks, and enjoys cutting and colouring because he loves the transformations that can happen.

“The Big Blow Out is championing and shining a light on the amazing work hairdressers do,” Farrall told Hairdressers Journal. “It’s giving the audience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to not only see hair, but the blood, sweat and tears that goes into hairdressing. It gives the viewers a backstage seat, from their sofa, into the world that we love and work in.”
