Dublin beauty salon introduces silent appointment option

A Dublin beauty salon has introduced the option of silent appointments for anyone nervous of heading to a salon, or anyone who needs time out.
Hive in Castleknock said that while silent appointments are not what everyone might want, clients who do can select the option when making a booking. There will be no judgement if any client opts for one, it said in an Instagram post when announcing the move.
“Since reopening we have thought long and hard about this topic,” it explained. “Silent appointments are not for everyone, but we want to care for our clients the best we can, so this will give our clients an option. Mental health is so important and coming into a salon can be very daunting for some people.
“If you are stressed, feeling anxious or you are just someone who needs to relax for an hour and not have to worry about the pressure of conversation, there will be no judgement from any member of our team if you request a silent appointment. It’s so important to take time out for yourself and feel completely relaxed – we want you to have the best experience possible. If you would like to have a silent appointment you simply just put it in your notes on your booking.”
Owner Hannah Kenny said the decision came about after she and the team noticed after this lockdown that many clients wanted to shut off and relax during their appointments. The response to the silent appointment has been very positive, she added, and they hope other salons adopt a similar policy.
