Dublin entrepreneur launches hair product innovation

A Dublin entrepreneur has launched The Smooth Company, with the Smooth Stick being the first product in the range.
Aine Kennedy has a background in beauty and came up with the idea for the hair taming wand at the beginning of the pandemic.
Tackling her own flyaway hairs on a daily basis, she decided to invent something to address this issue. After working on a formula for nearly two years, she has now launched the Smooth Stick, which is designed to tame hair, while also nourishing and hydrating it.
Kennedy had been saving for a house, but opted to invest her money in her new business instead.
“It was a long time in the works, two years trying to get it right,” she told Dublin Live. “I had the idea at the start of the pandemic. I saw something similar in Australia, but there was nothing like it in Europe so I made it my own and different.
“There’s tutorials online of girls using hairspray or mousse with a toothbrush, but this is something you can use on the go to keep your baby hairs in place all day. I wanted to produce it for all ages and all genders.
“It was hard to get the formula right; I didn’t want it that your hair is hard, but I didn’t want it to give you greasy or crunchy hair. If you use spray, it makes your hair hard, and if you use gels it makes it greasy.”
Kennedy now plans to distribute the Smooth Stick to salons.
