Dublin salon opens at midnight for 24 hours to mark end of lockdown

A Dublin salon took full advantage of the end of lockdown by reopening at midnight on 29 June.

The Irish hair and beauty industry was included in Phase 3 of the Government’s road map for reopening the country, meaning it could resume business last Monday.

Salon Rouge, which is located in Inchicore on Dublin’s southside, welcomed its first customers at 12am.

“To celebrate welcoming our clients back, we will be reopening at the stroke of midnight on 29 June and will be staying open for a full 24 hours,” it announced on Facebook in advance of reopening day. “We have spent 12 weeks closed and are excited to do our very best to clear our backlog the best we can. So if you fancy a midnight manicure we can make it happen.”

Salon Rouge spent thousands of euro preparing for the reopening to ensure the safety of staff and clients.

“Having invested in top of the range sanitising equipment and adhering to two metres social distancing, our staff are determined to go the extra mile is to support the community by providing long-awaited hairdressing services to customers old and new,” said owner Tish Curry.

Salon Rouge, which has been in business 15 years, also made a donation to Women’s Aid for each appointment over the 24 hours. The extended reopening day also helped tackle the four-week waiting list.
