Green Salon Collective launches sustainability events calendar

Green Salon Collective has released details of its upcoming monthly events, which are aimed at educating both existing members and those interested in finding out more about its work.

Founded in the summer of 2020 by environmental experts, hairdressers and eco campaigners, Green Salon Collective is an Ireland and UK initiative that facilitates salon sustainability by recycling the unrecyclable, such as hair, used foil and colour tubes, chemicals, plastics, and PPE.

Its goal is to be able to collect as close to 100% of all salon waste as physically possible, and to then find new uses for it that reward the salon, the environment and the community.

Green Salon Collective said it understands the importance of knowledge for addressing environmental and social issues, which is why it has  curated a series of events – both virtual and in-person – designed to give its members and the wider industry up-to-date information on sustainability.

Among the upcoming events are Trash Talk, which will take place on Zoom on Tuesday, 1 March, and on the first Tuesday of each month going forward.  Open to all, this free information session will feature a guest speaker every second month.

Also on the calendar is Earth Day Night on Zoom on Tuesday, 19 April. Sponsored by L’Oréal Professionnel Products, Green Salon Collective will be joined by guest speakers offering practical ideas on how to help local communities fight climate change. They include Amy Nguyen, founder and editor of Sustainable and Social, and Forbes’ sustainability contributor; and Lucy Siegle, author of Turning the Tide on Plastic.
