Ireland and UK among American Crew All-Star global winners

The Ireland and UK winners of the first round of the American Crew All-Star Challenge have gone on to be named two of the five global winners.

Ciara Madden from Marks Barbers in Dublin and Serena Hussain Hill from TONI&GUY Birmingham in the UK joined the entries from Brazil, Spain and Germany to become global champions of the annual competition.

The American Crew All-Star Challenge highlights world-class talent in men’s grooming. Barbers and hair stylists from across the globe are encouraged to showcase their skill and technique by creating their signature looks with American Crew products to capture spirit of the brand.

Having evolved from a local competition to a global event, the All-Star Challenge 2021 chose five global Champions from 42 participating countries.

“It’s always incredible to see the level of artisanship get better and better every year. But after a particularly challenging year for the industry, it’s even more special to see how passionate this community remains about their craft,” said David Raccuglia, founder of American Crew.

“Our five winners showed unbelievable creativity and skill and brought forth their visions in a way that earned their spot amongst the world’s top industry leaders. We look forward to seeing how this award helps push the boundaries of their careers in 2021 and beyond.”

Madden’s winning look was a modern take on today’s smart-casual look for men, placing a new spin on the classic fade with the addition of a triangular quiff fringe, while Hussain Hill’s was a 70s-inspired style featuring soft spiral curls and a touchable lived-in feel to recreate a modern glam rock look while embracing natural texture.

Madden and Hussain Hill will now receive a range of prizes, including an all-expenses paid trip to Barcelona, Spain to participate in an editorial photoshoot directed and shot by American Crew founder and renowned photographer David Raccuglia.
