Irish hair and beauty industry makes Image awards shortlist

Irish hair, beauty and make-up gurus have made the shortlist for this year’s Image Businesswoman of the Year Awards, which will be held on 25 November at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road in Dublin 4.

According to Image magazine, readers nominated friends, colleagues and family members for #BWOTY19, and it received an incredible amount of impressive entries – its biggest year to date. After much deliberation, these have been whittled down to make up a shortlist of formidable Irish women.

Hair and beauty businesswomen who are among the finalists include Debbie McQuillan, owner, VanityX Makeup Academy; Kim O’Sullivan, founder and director, The Dublin Makeup Academy; Anita Murray, managing director, Pink Beauty Group; Jo Browne, owner, founder and creator, Jo Browne Natural Skincare and Solid Perfumes; Anita Donoghue, director, Hair Cafe Salon; Aimee Connolly, owner and CEO, Sculpted by Aimee Connolly Cosmetics; and Onagh O’Driscoll, managing director, Platinum Hair Extensions.

Now in their 13th year, the Image Businesswoman of the Year Awards will see Ireland’s pioneering businesswomen being presented with prestigious awards in front of some of the country’s finest luminaries. The event celebrates entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and fearless thinking.

Among last year’s winners was Jennifer Rock, CEO and founder of The Skin Nerd Ltd, who was named Image Start-up of the Year 2018. Rock is a multi-award-winning dermal facialist and skincare trainer, renowned for a 360-degree approach to skincare. She is also the bestselling author of ‘The Skin Nerd: Your Straight-Talking Guide to Feeding, Protecting and Respecting Your Skin’ and frequently appears on the pages of national newspapers, magazines, radio and TV shows.
