PB caught up with with Airbase Make-Up to find out all things new that they're bringing to Professional Beauty Ireland next month...

What is the background of Airbase and what products do you offer?

Airbase’s heritage is founded the flawless airbrush foundation. Easy for professionals to learn with our one-day training course which was introduced 5 years ago in Dublin, Cork, Galway and now Wexford. Perfect for occasion and bridal make-up, the Airbase brand has expanded to include colour cosmetics.

What is your most popular product and what do you think makes it popular?

The foundation is the staple of the brand and what Airbase is famous for. The flawless finish achieved with the combination of an airbrush and light-weight silicone formulation ensures amazing longevity. An Airbase application stands up to any weather conditions and covers skin complaints such as rosacea, port wine stains and acne scarring. It even covers tattoos.

What makes your products special over the competition?

Airbase is an airbrush product which sets it aside from most foundations. However, it is the high concentration of high grade silicone in the formulation which provides the smooth, natural look, coverage and longevity. The finish provided by the airbrush is utilised by TV and Film companies for their High Definition productions.

How cost effective are your products when introducing them into a salon?

Airbase can be introduced into a salon or added to a make-up artist’s portfolio from €450. This includes one day of training in any of our published venues around the country. The cost per application is approximately €1 and the recommended price of an application ranges from €20 to €100, so it has excellent margins. Packages for retail products are also available.

Do you provide any extra services, advice or training programmes for professionals who use your products in their salons?

Each Airbase Professional Package comes with training at one of the venues listed on our website. The course covers basic make-up training, airbrush dexterity and ensures you understand how your airbrush works. We include some basic contouring techniques in the training too.

Why should salon owners visit your stand at the show?

Salons looking to expand their services and salons or make-up artists who want to increase their bridal business should definitely visit us. We are offering free demonstrations of Airbase on stand so that you can see and feel the product on your own skin and get a feel for how easy it is to airbrush make-up.

Are you having anything new on your stand at the show?

Professional Beauty Ireland is an exciting show for Airbase. We are launching our Airbase Aqua water based paints at the show – perfect for body painting and have a new High Definition Bronze and Contour Micro Powder available. In addition it is the first time in Ireland the much awaited Corrector Palette has been available for purchase. All good reasons to visit stand C48

Will you be having any special offers exclusive to the show?

We are selling VAT free on the day and have offers on our colour cosmetic lines. Professional Beauty Dublin is the best place to try Airbase products.

Any other plans for the show?

We have a member of our Pro Team on stage showing off some tips on contouring. That will be an informative session. Contouring is big business at the moment so go and pick up some tips at 12.30pm on Sunday on the Professional Beauty Stage! Anne Morrissey Principle of The International Make-Up Academy (TIMA) in Dublin is present as our guest judge for the Warpaint Competition ‘Edit’ category. We are excited and proud to be involved in the competition.

What tips would you give salon owners looking to introduce a new line into their salon?

Do your homework and shop around. Try the products that you are thinking to introduce yourself. You MUST have confidence in the products you are introducing. A trade show such as Professional Beauty Ireland is the perfect place to do this. It has all the best brands under one roof

Please tell us any current news or anything which is taking place at the moment outside of show activities.

We have just introduced our Body Paint course in colleges. Using our new Airbase Aqua products, we now offer a one day course in body art to colleges throughout the country. There are also excellently priced student kits for both the water and silicone based paints available for students. Colleges are always exciting places with new talent emerging. We love being involved.
