L’Oréal and Henkel provide back to work guides and supports for reopening of salons

L’Oréal has released a Back to Business Salon Support Guide to support salons as they prepare to reopen after the lifting of the Covid-19 restrictions.
Salons in Ireland are set to reopen on 20 July, which is Phase 4 of the Government’s road map.
The guide covers L’Oréal’s response to the crisis created by the pandemic and the steps the company is taking to support the industry. It aims to provide advice and assistance to salons as they get ready to return to a changed work environment, which will include new health and safety standards to protect both staff and clients.
Other features include an in-salon hygiene guide; tips on how to organise the salon team, such as communicating with staff, reviewing shifts/breaks/opening hours, changes to job responsibilities; recommendations for adapting and organising the salon; and communicating with clients.
Henkel is rolling out its Back to Work programme, which aims support salons’ return to work with critical PPE equipment and training.
It’s the company’s third initiative designed to lift the professional hairdressing industry during the Covid-19 pandemic. The first two were Helpyoursalon.ie and the launch of the home delivery service.
The Back to Work programme is a drive to equip all salon owners who are Henkel customers, regardless of brand affiliation, with all the necessary PPE, hygiene products, training and communication materials to safely reopen. It comprises three key areas: PPE; education and guidelines; and client communication.
“As salon doors are (hopefully) flung wide to welcome back those clients, the industry collectively has one goal in sight: to create environments that are safe, clean, flowing, observing social distancing, protecting teams and clients and, most importantly for us all, are safe places to create hairdressing beauty,” said Julian Crane, general manager, Henkel Beauty Care UK and Ireland.
