Make your Beauty, Hair & Spa Awards 2023 entry stand out!

The Beauty, Hair & Spa Awards 2023 are currently open for entries, with the gala ceremony taking place in the InterContinental Dublin on 12 November.

Launched last year, these awards are different to other ones in Ireland because they are judged by an independent panel of experts, who have been chosen for their skills and business acumen.

If you’re currently working on, or planning to start working on, your entry to the awards, below is some handy advice to help your application stand out to the judges.

• Consider your application in advance – read through all the questions before you begin and make some notes about what you want to say.
• Make a note of the deadline in your diary (28 July) so you’re not writing everything at the last minute, running the risk of omitting important points about what makes your business the best.
• Keep an eye on the word count so you don’t go over it. The judges have quite a lot of information to get through, and prefer concise, relevant details that get straight to the heart of your business’s unique selling points.
• Be sure to convey your point of difference. The judges want to know what exactly it is that you do that makes your salon or spa stand out from its competitors. The key to this is giving examples and being very specific about them. For instance, tell them what you do that the salon or the spa down the road doesn’t do.
• Avoid common mistakes. These include copying and pasting information directly from your website or brochure. The application form features specific questions in relation to your business, so provide pertinent responses to these questions.
• Make sure your entry is balanced, where relevant. When it comes to your salon or spa, there’s the client-facing side and the business side. Where appropriate, be mindful of including all sides, and not focusing on one over the other.
• Make sure you attach the images that are required, and that those images illustrate the best version of you and your business.
