New app aims to connect hair and beauty professionals with clients

A new app is aiming to connect hair, beauty and wellness professionals with potential clients whenever and wherever they want.

uGlow is the brainchild of Co Waterford native Elaine Doheny, who is currently based in Australia, but moving back to Ireland in the coming months.

She began working on the idea for the platform in Melbourne during the lockdown in May 2020, before developing it during her maternity leave in 2021.

Launching this spring, the first phase of the roll-out will see uGlow seeking professionals (GloPros) to sign up to the app, with the services being made available to clients from April.

“Right now, uGlow’s focus is to get professionals signed up in the areas of wellness, beauty and lifestyle, such as hair stylists, beauticians, nail technicians, massage therapists, personal trainers, and yoga and pilates instructors.

“The benefits for professionals signing up to uGlow include having more control over your time, and increasing your revenue potential. uGlow works very much off your location so as the platform grows, you can work from anywhere in the world.

“The professionals, otherwise known as GlowPros, will also be given access to training and webinars on marketing their businesses, managing their finances and developing their brand.

“uGlow has partnered with iZest Marketing, who are renowned for their experience in this industry, having worked with Pippa O’Connor and Aimee Connelly. Freelancing can be lonely so I’d like uGlow to become a community for the freelance hairdressers and other service providers who sign up to the app.”
