Reopening salons eligible for double CRSS payment

Hair and beauty businesses reopening on 10 May are eligible for a payment of up to €10,000 from the Government under the Covid Restrictions Support Scheme (CRSS).
This scheme was put in place by the Government last year to assist businesses that had to close at various times because of Covid-19 restrictions.
Any ones that have been availing of the CRSS and are now reopening can receive double restart payments for two weeks. These payments, which aim to help with the cost of reopening, will be capped at a statutory maximum of up to €5,000 per week.
Meanwhile, as the country begins to move out of Level 5 restrictions, the Government has reminded those who are returning to work that they must close their claim for the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) on the actual date that they start back at work, in order to ensure that their claim is processed correctly and to avoid incurring an overpayment that the Department of Social Protection will take steps to recover.
At the end of May, the Government is to set out the future of PUP post-30 June, taking into account of the trajectory of the coronavirus, progress on the vaccine rollout and the continued impact of the pandemic on the economy over the months ahead.
According to Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys, there will be no “cliff edge” at the end of June. “Supports will not be suddenly withdrawn, but will be phased out in a gradual way in line with the reopening of the economy,” she said.
