Sisu co-founder helping frontline workers with transport during Covid-19 crisis

The entrepreneur behind Sisu Aesthetic Clinic has teamed up with rental car company GoCar to make free cars available to frontline workers.
Corkman Pat Phelan came up with the idea after he saw a tweet from a young nurse who said her transportation timetable had changed, which made it impossible for her to get to work on time without taking a taxi that she could not afford.
He went on to contact GoCar, which agreed to pay for 100 cars for frontline staff with Phelan covering the insurance costs. Two more entrepreneurs have now come on board to sponsor another 100 cars each and Phelan is trying to do a similar initiative in the UK.
“We would like to thank our frontline heroes. There are 100 cars available now to frontline health workers all over Ireland. These are totally free of charge,” Phelan tweeted.
Sisu specialises in non-surgical injectable treatments such as Botox, lip and dermal fillers and its clinics are currently closed during the to Covid-19 crisis. Phelan founded the company with doctors James and Brian Cotter, who are currently working in the Mercy in Cork and St Vincent’s in Dublin in order to help fight the pandemic.
“We closed before anyone and that probably best sums up the attitude here – ‘we are doctors and these are patients’,” Phelan told Professional Beauty Ireland. “My partners Dr James Cotter and Dr Brian Cotter plus all our other doctors are now all working in hospitals nationwide. This just blew me away. I want to help the frontline workers and am now finding apartments for nurses/doctors that must self isolate.”
