Treatwell Glossary explains the language of beauty

Beauty bookings platform Treatwell has launched the Treatwell Glossary, which aims to break down and explain every term in hair and beauty, letting the client in on the inside knowledge.

It hopes to help all those who’ve been guilty of nodding along when the girls are discussing the latest superhero skincare ingredient they’re obsessed with, silently googling it, all the while thinking that hyaluronic acid is what they put in batteries.

Between buzzwords, ingredient and treatments, beauty can be a minefield when it comes to being in the know. According to a Treatwell survey, 31pc of people have no idea what balayage is, which rises to 41pc when asked to define sugaring. Meanwhile, 13pc of the people surveyed thought that salicylic acid keeps drinks fizzy. The Treatwell Glossary breaks down every confusing term in hair and beauty, helping clients make better hair and beauty decisions.

Alongside the survey, Treatwell held a focus group to see just how clueless people were when it came to these terms, the answer of which found its way into the glossary in the form of ‘not to be confused with’. The company’s favourite is: ‘Sugaring, not to be confused with a doughnut topping’.

Hair and beauty bookings website Treat well has over 600 employees working in offices throughout Europe, working with over 30,000 local partners. Founded in 2018, it has since brought together several echo and beauty booking companies into its brand across Europe.
