Wella Professionals teams up with Green Salon Collective

Wella Professionals UK & Ireland has officially partnered with Green Salon Collective, which is a salon sustainability initiative.

According to Wella, this is a step towards its commitment to a more sustainable future.

“As part of this, all of our Wella Studios have already implemented the Green Salon Collective’s recycling system, ensuring that waste is either reused or recycled. We’ll also be offering training and support for salons in the UK and Ireland so that they too can start introducing sustainability measures for your business.”

As part of the partnership, Wella salons can also claim a 15% discount on their opening order with Green Salon Collective.

Green Salon Collective was founded by environmental experts, hairdressers and eco campaigners, including Fry Taylor. The start-up is aiming to facilitate salon sustainability by recycling the unrecyclable. Its goal is to be able to collect as close to 100% of all salon waste as physically possible, and to then find new uses for it that reward the salon, the environment and the community.

It launched during the summer, and within three months, a total of 17 salons in Ireland and 140 in the UK had signed up to the initiative.

According to Taylor, becoming a ‘green salon’ is hugely beneficial for business. “As a client, if you knew that one salon was recycling you hair, foil and leftover colour, and you had to pay an extra euro, and the salon next door wasn't doing any of those things, which salon would you chose? Salons on our system attract more like-minded clients; and more clients equal more income.”
