‘When will hairdressers open in Ireland?’ tops Google searches

If anyone doubted the appetite in Ireland for salons to reopen, all they have to do is read Google’s latest insights. The search engine has released lists of the things Irish people have been searching for online following the Government’s publication of the road map to reopen the country.

While Covid-19 was a search theme in general, the search engine looked at questions that had the words ‘when’, ‘will’ and ‘open’ in them, and top of that list was ‘When will hairdressers open in Ireland?’

This was followed by ‘When will pubs open in Ireland?’, ‘When will golf courses open in Ireland?’ and ‘When will Penneys open again?’.

Some salons around the country are organising their bookings in advance of their reopening date, whether that’s 20 July or earlier.

Hugh Campbell Hair Group in Limerick have asked clients to register their interest for their next appointment by adding their name to the special Priority Booking List. Customers can clink on a link to register, then add their details, preferred salon, stylist and service and the team will be in contact to make the booking once the reopening date is confirmed.

“Please be advised that we already have a waiting list of clients who had their appointments cancelled due to the unexpected, temporary closure, and regular clients who have standing weekly appointments, if you are one of these clients you are already on the priority list,” it added.

Salon 2 in Sligo posted a video asking clients to email with their name, phone number and preferred stylist. It said that way it can compile a list as staff will be working behind the scenes before the official opening date in order to have everything organised.
