Worldskills Ireland 2023 returns to Dublin in September

Worldskills Ireland is back for 2023, with this year's event taking place in Dublin's RDS on 20-22 September.

A celebration of apprenticeships, skills and careers to inspire young people from across the country, Worldskills Ireland 2023 has been designed to raise the profile of skills and apprenticeships, preparing the talent of today for the careers of tomorrow.

This year, the skills competitions will include hairdressing and beauty therapy. With the hair and beauty sector suffering a skills shortage in recent times, Worldskills is hoping to help ensure there's a pipeline of future talent available to the industry.

Across three action-packed days, the event will bring young people together through interactive events and demonstrations, and will give them the opportunity to meet face-to-face with employers who are ready to recruit.

“After the success of the event in 2022, we are thrilled to officially launch Worldskills Ireland 2023 and bring this global movement back to our shores,” said Ray English, Worldskills Ireland chair.

“Vocational skills are critical to the success of our economy, and we believe that by promoting excellence in these areas, we can create a brighter future for our young people, our industries and our country. We are excited to work with our partners to elevate the status and perception of skills in Ireland, and inspire the next generation of skilled professionals.”

The event is supported by a range of industry and education partners, including the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, the Higher Education Authority and Solas.

“Worldskills Ireland is a ‘must attend’ event for young people wanting to explore skills education, training and career opportunities right on their doorstep,” said Donal Keys from Technological University Dublin and joint chair of Worldskills Ireland National Competition.

“Ireland has a rich skills heritage, and we want to make sure that this continues well into the future. Worldskills Ireland is an invaluable learning experience that can have a lasting impact on young people’s future and is certainly an event not to be missed.”
