The Hair and Beauty Industry Confederation (Habic) has announced it is to close after five years.
In a social media post, it said the decision has not come lightly, but that it is necessary as it looks towards the future.
“Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones, and when we review our Statement of Strategy 2019-2024, we feel proud of how far we have come in fulfilling our mission. As the industry grows, feedback from our members has emphasised a need for distinct voices for the hair and beauty sectors to best support your needs.”
Habic said that the Irish Spa Association will now welcome members from the beauty sector, as it expands its focus to fully represent and support the beauty and spa industries. Moving forward, it will be recognised as the Irish Spa & Beauty Association. Habic members from the hairdressing industry are being encouraged to actively support the Irish Hairdressers Federation (IHF).
“This change allows for a clear, dedicated voice for both the hairdressing and beauty/spa industries, each able to serve their communities distinctly while also being flexible to unite when beneficial.”
Meanwhile, Habic’s closure will not affect the ongoing work and support provided by Image Skillnet.
“Image Skillnet will collaborate closely with both organisations, ensuring continuous educational support for beauty, spa, and hair professionals nationwide,” it said.
