Pantone has announced that Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse is its Colour of the Year 2025.
Each year, the Pantone Color Institute selects a hue that captures a collective mood or attitude, sparking conversations about colour’s influence on culture.
More than just a design trend, it’s seen to be a reflection of the global zeitgeist. It also has a huge influence on the hair and beauty industry, with the colour helping to dictate trending shades for the year ahead.
According to the Pantone Color Institute, Mocha Mousse is a rich and warming brown that ‘nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee’.
“Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence,” said executive director Leatrice Eiseman. “Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, it extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.”
Pantone also said that Mocha Mousse symbolises our connection to the natural world and the desire for harmony in every aspect of life.
“The everlasting search for harmony filters through into every aspect of our lives including our relationships, the work we do, our social connections, and the natural environment that surrounds us,” noted Laurie Pressman, vice-president of the Pantone Color Institute.
“Harmony embraces a culture of connection and unity as well as the synthesis of our mental, spiritual and physical wellbeing.”
