The national minimum wage has increased by 80c to €13.50 per hour, with the new rate effective from 1 January.
This adjustment follows the Low Pay Commission’s recommendation and is part of Budget 2025.
The €13.50 rate is for employees aged 20 and above, while the rate for employees aged 19 is €12.15, aged 18 is €10.80 and aged under 19 is €9.45.
Additionally, to ensure that employers with employees working full time on the national minimum wage are not required to pay the higher rate of employer PRSI, the threshold for the higher rate will be adjusted accordingly.
These changes aim to support low-paid workers, while balancing the needs of employers and maintaining competitiveness.
