Peter Mark partnered with Barnardos this year for its annual Petermarkathon fundraising initiative, which ran from 23-31 October.
The money collected over the week will now go towards helping the most vulnerable children and families in Ireland.
The Petermarkathon has run for the last 11 years, raising approximately €770k to date for various charities.
There are 69 Peter Mark salons on the island of Ireland, and for this year's Petermarkathon the branches were tasked with creating their own unique way of raising money, including pyjama parties, fancy dress, raffles and games.
According to Barnardos and Peter Mark, by donating €10 in-store, clients helped provide a nutritious breakfast for a child for a week at Barnardos Breakfast Club; by donating €20, they helped provide a child with PJs, slippers and bed socks to help keep them warm at night; and by donating €30, they helped children and families attending Barnardos’ services to have access to all the basic essentials and toiletries they need to stay clean and healthy.
“At Barnardos we are truly delighted to have been selected as the Peter Mark charity partner for 2023,” said Suzanne Connolly, Barnardos CEO. “It will be a long winter for some children without sufficient food, heat and electricity. We know that childhood lasts a lifetime – the longer a child spends living in a household without essentials, the greater the impact on their current and future wellbeing and development.”
