Schwarzkopf Professional has announced the individuals selected for the Young Artistic Team (YAT) of 2024, with an Ireland-based stylist among the line-up.

Cory Crosby from Kevin Kahan Salon in Bangor, Co Down (@coreyc_hair_n_stuff) is among the seven stylists who have been chosen to take part in the year-long mentoring initiative designed to cultivate and elevate the future leaders of the hairdressing industry.

The competition to join the YAT kicked off on Sunday, 21 January at the Hunter Collective in London. The finalists, who had already impressed judges with their online submissions, demonstrated their skills, techniques and creativity in an in-person session.

Under the theme of total creative freedom, the final 16 contestants were given the task of cutting a minimum of five centimetres from their model's hair and the choice of the entire Schwarzkopf Professional colour line to create final looks that showcased their technical cuttings skills and colour knowledge, and that reflected their artistic vision.

The judging process extended beyond just the hairstyling, with make-up and clothing choices also contributing to the overall evaluation.

According to Schwarzkopf Professional, the selection process was rigorous, with the judges not only evaluating the finished model looks, but also considering the candidates' knowledge, presentation skills, and enthusiasm for a year of education and opportunities.

The company said that initially planning was for a team of six, but the competition was so fierce that an additional member (Max Andrea) was added to the YAP, making it a group of seven.

Along with Cory Crosby, the other six Schwarzkopf Professional YAT 2024 members are Emma Thomber, Gypsy Rose Hair (@noobcutz); Georgina Bradshaw, Hooker & Young (@ghbhair); Daniel Joy, Haug London House (@danielalexanderhair); Sophie Kinloch, Rainbow Room International (@sofdoessomehair); Max Andrea, Claxton Hair (@maxandreahair); and Olivia Brady, The Honey Comb (@oliviarosebradyhair).
