Ashford Castle voted No 1 resort hotel in Ireland and UK

Ashford Castle in Co Mayo has been voted the No 1 resort hotel in Ireland and the UK in American travel magazine’s Travel + Leisure’s 2020 World’s Best Awards.

Travel + Leisure's World Best Awards are based on votes from the publication’s readers.

The hotel is home to The Spa at Ashford Castle, which last year was awarded Ireland’s Best Hotel Spa for the fourth year in a row by World Spa Awards.

The Spa at Ashford Castle relaunched in 2015 following the completion of a two-year restoration and enhancement programme at the castle. Facilities include five treatment rooms, a hammam, steam room and a terrace area with views over Lough Corrib.

“Winning this award and being recognised as the UK and Ireland’s No 1 resort hotel is a seminal moment for Ashford Castle, particularly when you consider the standard and number of wonderful properties operating in both markets,” said Niall Rochford, general manager, Ashford Castle.

Co Wicklow’s Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa, Co Kerry’s Sheen Falls Lodge and Co Limerick’s Adare Manor were all also named as some of Ireland and the UK’s top resort hotels in the awards.
