Digital Salon launches industry-focused Digital Academy

Digital Salon has launched its Digital Academy with the goal of helping salon owners learn more about digital marketing and how it can help them grow their client base.

Based in Naas, Co Kildare, Digital Salon provides digital solutions and salon software to hair and beauty businesses. Its Digital Academy courses and workshops have been put together by experts in digital marketing and the salon sector, specifically with salon owners and managers in mind.

“We have launched our Digital Academy to help educate salon owners and their teams on all things digital,” said Richard Spence, co-founder and director, Digital Salon. “The most effective way to promote your salon and generate new clients is through digital marketing. Many salon owners don't fully understand it, and some are even afraid of it, yet it is potentially the most important thing they can learn for their business.

“Through our experience of providing digital services to hundreds of salons, we felt it was important to create a series of courses and practical workshops, specifically for the salon industry. Salons need to understand the various aspects of digital marketing, and to learn how to use them to help grow their business.”

The first course to be run by the Digital Academy is the Social Media Workshop, which is being held on 31 January. Taking place in Accademia in Kilmainham, Dublin, it is designed to equip attendees with social media knowledge, along with a plan and the tools required to put it into action, including scheduling the first month’s posts.

The workshop allows for two people from each salon to attend – the owner/manager and the person who will be running the salon’s social media. Topics covered include platform selection, content creation, hashtag research and the use of influencers and/or advertising.

“We felt social media was a great place to start, as this tool is free to use for salons, and it's one they can learn to do well themselves,” said Spence. “We will have many more salon specific-digital courses every month this year.”

Following Digital Academy’s launch workshop, upcoming courses include Blogging for Salons and TikTok for Salons.
