Digital Salon launches Support Your Local Salon initiative

Digital Salon has launched Support Your Local Salon, an initiative designed to help Irish salons with online shops to be found by existing and potential customers in their area.

This is done through a bespoke website – supportyourlocalsalon.ie – which has been developed and launched free of charge by the salon software and website provider. Consumers can search for a local hair or beauty salon based in their region or county, and will be shown all the salons in their area with online shops that they can click directly onto.

“Our goal here is to drive customers to their local salons’ online stores to boost their retail sales,” said John Donnelly, MD of Digital Salon.

“Obviously, an added advantage is that it will keep salon customers from going to default online offshore options. We want to make it is as easy as possible to buy online, but still buy local. There’s a definite pandemic-related purchase patriotism movement out there, and we need to facilitate that.”

According to Donnelly, Covid-19 has made it imperative for salons to have an online shop and website, with lockdown closures giving owners the time needed to get their online operation fit-for-purpose.

During the first lockdown, Digital Salon launched an initiative to help salon owners set up their business online by offering a free website landing page, enabling them to sell gift cards. “This initiative helped mansalons that had previously had no online presence and generated badly-needed income,” he said.
