Dublin’s Buff Day Spa celebrates 20 years in business

The Buff Day Spa on South King Street in Dublin has begun celebrating its 20th birthday with a number of promotions, including an offer on five of its treatments at 2002 prices.

To acknowledge its focus on natural beauty and sustainable beauty brands, the business is also planting 20 Irish oak trees to mark its milestone year.

According to owner Eileen Fleming, the industry is as innovative and rewarding as ever, and that satisfied customers make it all worthwhile.

“From day one, The Buff was conceived as a soothing haven, where the very best natural and technologically-advanced beauty solutions would enhance our customers lives and wellbeing,” said Eileen Fleming, owner of The Buff Day Spa. “I am delighted to say that this award-winning formula has not changed.”

Fleming has seen a number of trends emerge since she opened her business in 2022. “In the last 20 years, medi-spa facial and body treatments have seen major developments, and these have driven demand for highly-effective hi-tech contouring and anti-ageing procedures, such as Venus Freeze and HydraFacial patented technology.

“There is also more emphasis on skincare and deep cleansing, with our treatment products being more environmentally-conscious and sustainable. The focus on protecting skin naturally sees functional products that are certified vegan and free from artificial colours and fragrances, as well as from chemicals like mineral oils, parabens and microplastics.

Treatment length times have also changed. “In the early years, bookings tended to be for half-hour or hour-long beauty treatments, whereas over time, spa packages gained in popularity. A half-day or full-day of relaxing rejuvenation is now more common. Clients are also more open to having a spa experience at home, purchasing Voya candles for bath time, using spa treatment creams and body exfoliants, and aromatherapy-based bath oils and shower gels.”

Fleming said another trend she has seen is the rise in demand for male treatments. “Men are more open to skincare and body treatments since the early Noughties, and it's much more common for couples to have treatments together.”
