Hairdressers and MUAs offering online bridal tutorials

With hair and make-up services not permitted at weddings under Ireland’s current Covid-19 restrictions, some make-up artists and hairdressers are now offering online tutorials for brides-to-be.
The country is on Level 5 of its National Framework for Living with Covid-19, meaning hair and beauty salons, and spas, are closed until 1 December. While weddings with a limited number of 25 people are allowed to take place, updated Government guidelines state that hair and make-up services are not permitted.
Dublin-based VanityX is offering a free virtual make-up lesson to brides that need guidance on their big day. The lesson features step-by-step demonstrations that are recorded and can be played back so applications can be practised in advance.
Meanwhile, an online petition to allow wedding hair and make-up services at Level 5 has attracted over 500 signatures. The petition was started by wedding photographer Irene Terry, who believes the rule is unfair on everyone involved.
“They're saying that you can get married, but you can't have your hair and make-up done,” she said on Newstalk Breakfast radio show. “How can you be expected to get married and spend a fortune on a dress, and you have to do you own hair and make-up?”
