Irish Government publishes Plan for Living with Covid-19

The Irish Government has published its Resilience and Recovery 2020-2021: Plan for Living with Covid-19.

The plan has been drawn up as Ireland moves from a short-term emergency response approach to a medium-term approach to managing risk and repairing the damage that Covid-19 has inflicted on society.

A Framework for Restrictive Measures, consisting of five levels, has been developed to help people and businesses to go about their daily lives as much as possible, while managing the behaviour of the virus.

Each level has a number of measures designed to help lower the transmission of Covid-19. It also sets out what is permitted at that moment in time in terms of social or family gatherings, work and public transport, bars, hotels and restaurants, exercise activities and religious services. The aim is to allow society and businesses to be able to operate as normally as possible, while continuing to suppress the virus. Ireland is currently at Level 2, which means the majority of areas of the economy and society are open.

“This will be the guide for us all – families, business and society – over the next seven months as we live with Covid-19,” Habic said in a blog post. “It is our country’s response to saving lives and managing this pandemic, and it is now our responsibility to familiarise ourselves with the plan.

The organisation reminded members that the implications of Level 2 for the hair and beauty industry are that the sector should maintain the wearing of PPE, and to proceed with protective measures in place.

“We suggest that you to refer to the our industry reopening guidelines as a reminder of these protective measures. These were prepared and issued by Habic in collaboration with our industry peers in response to a Government request. We invite you to review these guidelines and apply them appropriately to your salon, barber shop or spa model, with the health and safety of you, your staff and clients in mind. Working together, we can move forward in time to Level 1.”
