ISA announces access to new EU Covid-19 safety seal

The Irish Spa Association (ISA) has announced that its members now have access to the new  European Tourism Covid-19 Safety Seal.

Published by the European Standardisation Organisation (CEN), the seal is a European standardisation deliverable for Covid-19 health and safety protocols in tourism establishments and services, developed at the European Commission's initiative.

It complements CEN’s endorsement of a safety protocol developed at the International Standardisation Organisation (ISO). It aims to increase the trust of travellers and tourists, as well as residents and employees, fostering the EU’s reputation as a quality tourism destination.

The seal is the second part of the CWA (CEN Workshop Agreement) 5643 series. The ISA has been operating CWA 5643 Part 1 for the management of Covid-19 in beauty and spa settings since 2020, with ISA co-founder Anita Murray participating in the drafting of the document and the development of it.

Part 2, the European Tourism COVID-19 Safety Seal, can be displayed by members in accordance with Part 1. The ISA said that it is confident the new seal will be a vital tool for business continuity for the sector and to continue to restore the trust of our all guests and clients.
