Well-known industry professional Richard Barry launches Salon Dimensions

Richard Barry has announced the launch of his new company Salon Dimensions, which supplies salon furniture, equipment and professional tools, as well as offering a salon planning and design service.

Barry has worked for over 35 years in the hairdressing industry in Ireland. He began his career with Wella Professionals in 1987, and spent 20 years working at Xpert Professional, before leaving in 2025.

He said he is excited to now bring all that knowledge and passion into something of his own, with his new company aiming to bring together experience, quality and value, as it helps salon owners create beautiful, functional and successful business environments.

Barry is distributing Kiela, Welonda, Pahi and Takumi, along with Peniculus hairbrushes and Shōrai scissors. He will also soon be launching the Akako scissors brand.

“As well as a broad range of furniture and equipment, we have what I believe to be the perfect niche collections of high-performance, yet affordable, professional hairdressing scissors and hairbrushes,” he said.

Strong demand

Barry believes there is a gap in the market for what he is offering. “I feel there is a strong demand for a business that specialises in salon furniture, equipment and quality stylist tools,” he explained. “Many companies just tag these on in a ‘we also do’ manner, but don't give them the focus and time investment they deserve.

“I always remember the wise words of Alan Austin-Smith and the saying that ‘where you put your focus, you achieve your best results’. My last three years in Xpert Professional managing the furniture portfolio proved that in spades. It also identified the demand that exists within the industry for the smallest to the largest salon refits, expansions or brand new turnkey projects.

“Hair and fashion constantly changes and evolves, as does interior design trends. Our main goal at Salon Dimensions is to establish and grow as the go-to specialists in this field.”

Among Barry’s first launches as Salon Dimensions owner is the Vita Spa Ritual Experience from Pahi Barcelona. “I'm especially looking forward to introducing this into Ireland, as the Japanese and Korean head spa is possibly the fastest-growing trend globally for salons and scalp clinics to elevate their services to new levels of comfort and client experience,” he said.
