The Alfaparf Milano Professional Architects of Design (AOD) team recently visited Rome for a two-day immersion into the world of Italian fashion and hair under the tutelage of the Mod creative team, led by Alfaparf Milano Professional global ambassador Emanuele Vona.
The one-year AOD programme is aimed at passionate and enthusiastic senior stylists, who are looking to enhance their skills in cutting and colouring techniques. The team travels to multiple Alfaparf Milano Professional academies across Europe to be mentored by stylists from the UK, Ireland, Spain and Italy.
The stylists on the team from across Ireland and the UK are Sarah Lyons (Sarah Lyons Hair & Beauty Bar), Zeta Russell (Hairitage), Nicole McCormac (The Hair Company), Maria Mallon (Studio M), Ruth Byrne (Blakes Hair Salon), Dee Conroy (Redz), Shauna Kehoe (Sean Taaffe), Steve Turner (Six Salon) and Tracie Webb (Fatal Attraction).
Held at at the Mod Academy in Piazza di Spagna, the recent trip saw the AOD team experience a first-hand insight into the world of session styling. With a mixture of inspirational demonstrations and hands-on learning, they created a variety of looks using Alfaparf Milano Professional Style Stories.
They visited the Accademia Costume & Moda and saw the private library that has been the source of inspiration for designers such as Marc Jacobs, Alessandro Michele and Pierpaolo Piccioli. They also attended a textile class, and a bag-making class sponsored by Salvatore Ferragamo and Fendi.
“Seeing the creative process up close at the Accademia Costume & Moda was truly insightful,” said Piero Gentile, Alfaparf Milano Professional technical educator.
“This was such a stimulating trip, full of learning opportunities for us all, along with fresh ideas that we can all use as hairdressers. Learning from creatives like the Mod creative team, who have a different culture to ours, is always so motivating, especially when you are being taught by artists embedded in Italy which is known for its style and beauty.”
The next AOD team trip will be to Dublin and the Alfaparf Milano Professional Accademia, with Alfaparf Milano Professional brand ambassador Paul Stafford.
