Irish tipping system Strikepay announces partnership with Global Beauty

Strikepay has announced a new partnership with Dublin-based distributor Global Beauty.

Founded in 2020, the Irish fintech company provides digital tipping solutions to a range of businesses across Ireland and the UK. Among its clients are Peter Mark and TONI&GUY.

Strikepay is headed up by CEO Oli Cavanagh, who came up with the idea for the business when he couldn’t tip Dublin stylist Mark O’Keefe, owner of the Brown Sugar and Sugar Daddy chains in Dublin.

“I’d stopped carrying cash altogether during the first lockdown and this was my first chance to get a decent haircut, and I couldn’t even tip since I’d no cash and the salon had stopped allowing tips through the card machine,” he said.

“When I saw that everyone else had stopped carrying cash and most salons had stopped taking tips through their pay terminals, it seemed like an incredible opportunity to create a new way to tip, and Strikepay was born.”

According to  Cavanagh, the nature of the product means that it can be distributed by a partner to salons, without requiring any effort from the partner to onboard each one.

“The salon just buys a contactless Strikepay tipping stand and they set up their salon themselves within a couple of minutes, after which all of their staff can be tipped directly. This is important because of the new tipping legislation, and means that it saves the salons money and liability by not going through their pay terminal or booking system.”

Strikepay has just launched in the US and is now looking for a distributor there, he added.

“This is another tool Global Beauty has added to our business to make life easier for the ever-growing partnerships we have within the hair and beauty industry,” said Global Beauty owner Paul O’Neill.
