Peter Mark has announced that its annual Petermarkathon will raise funds for Epilepsy Ireland this year.
The Petermarkathon has raised funds for a variety of charities over the last 13 years. The company has almost 70 salons across Ireland and the event will see a number of activities take place in the branches from 21-28 October.
“We began the Petermarkathon in 2011, and over the years, our incredible salons have raised over €800,000 for our charity partners,” said Peter O’Rourke, CEO, Peter Mark.
“We are delighted to be supporting the work of Epilepsy Ireland and are appealing to our customers and their local communities to get behind their local Peter Mark salon’s efforts this year.
“When selecting Epilepsy Ireland as this year’s beneficiary, we learnt so much about the work their local community resource officers do for people with epilepsy and their families in local communities. With over 45,000 people living with epilepsy across Ireland, the condition is one of the most common neurological ones in the country and is incredibly individual.
“Knowing that the funds raised from this year’s Petermarkathon will support this work is something we are very proud of indeed and we hope the efforts of our salons will help continue Epilepsy Ireland’s journey towards a society where no person’s life is limited by epilepsy.”
Epilepsy Ireland CEO Peter Murphy added: “We are delighted to be the beneficiaries of this year’s Petermarkathon. It is an incredible event driven by the passion and commitment of everyone who works at Peter Mark. We are community-based organisations so having the support of a community-based business such as Peter Mark is a fantastic opportunity to not only raise the funds we require to continue our work, but to raise further awareness of epilepsy within local communities across Ireland.”
