Irish hair and beauty industry bodies are urging salon businesses to join them in a protest march next Tuesday, 15 October.

Both the Irish Hairdressers Federation (IHF) and the Hair and Beauty Industry Confederation (Habic) have asked members to support the initiative, which is beginning at 1pm at the Pepper Canister Church, Mount Street, Dublin 2, before making its way to Leinster House.

The march is being organised by the recently formed SME Alliance. Its purpose is to highlight the lack of support for SMEs in the recent Budget, according to both the IHF and Habic.

“The Budget has left many of us struggling, and it is time to make our voices heard,” said Habic. “Join us as we march to Leinster House to demand the support that small businesses deserve. Together, we can show the Government the immense financial pressure we are under and push for real change. We need every business to show up and make an impact.”

The IHF also said it needs businesses to show up. “The Government needs to really understand the huge financial strains they are placing on our businesses. Your presence is essential in showing the Government that the Budget was a disaster for small businesses.”
