L’Oréal Professionnel is partnering with Calm to offer three months of free access to the sleep, meditation and relaxation app.

The move is part of the brand’s Head up initiative, which is its free mental health programme for hairstylists. According to a study conducted by L’Oréal Professionnel through its official Instagram account, 65% of hairstylists report having experienced anxiety, burnout or depression during their professional career.

L’Oréal Professionnel Paris launched Head Up in 2023. It is co- developed with hairstylists and the non-profit organisation NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to provide stylists with accessible resources to help face mental health challenges as they arise.

Since 2023, more than 92,000 hairstylists from 25 countries have completed the first training module of the programme.

With over 120 million downloads, Calm offers a comprehensive approach to wellbeing, with accessible practices available 24/7 in 190 countries, and offered in seven languages.

Hairstylists can now receive three months of free access to Calm, and therein 50% off Calm’s annual subscription price. L’Oréal Professionnel said that through this partnership, hairstylists will be able to put into practice their learnings from the Head Up training programme, applying tools such as meditation, breathing and movement exercises.

Alongside this, there is access to masterclasses and relaxing stories to enhance sleep quality.
