New service seeks hair and beauty professionals across Ireland
A new service is looking for a range of hair and beauty professionals to sign up to work their own hours in their chosen locations across Ireland.
GlamMe is planning to deliver fuss-free glamour to clients’ own living rooms, hotel rooms, office space, or wherever else suits them.
They simply visit the GlamMe website Glamme.ie, and pick the service they require, including the time and location. GlamMe deals with the rest, promising to provide clients with the relevant professionals and same high standard as an in-salon service.
The service is currently recruiting professionals across Ireland – all they need to do is send their CV and social media link, along with their choice of working days and location.
The brainchild of Marie Maynard, the idea for GlamMe came about when she was on holiday and wanted to get her make-up done.
“I was attending something nice and wanted to look just that – nice!” she explained. “I wasn’t looking for a €500 face or a three-hour ordeal. I was also on holiday and I didn’t want to spend hours looking for a make-up artist or salon online that was close to my hotel, which wouldn’t break the bank and had half-good reviews. So I began to wonder if there was gap in the market.”
After thinking about all the tourists and visitors coming to Ireland who might also require the service she needed when she was abroad, Maynard decided to set up GlamMe.
“It brings the blow-dry, the make-up and the nails to your door,” she said. “It’s an express service with all treatments taking one hour or less. It also aims to be affordable, without lacking quality. There’s just one website where the client seeks out the professional and the professional is then sent out to them. It's a simple way of bringing together clients and professionals.”
Local client base
As well as tourists and visitors, GlamMe also aims to meet the needs of Ireland-based and local clients, such as those going out for a birthday or other special occasion, who might prefer to have their hair and make-up done at home.
“The service is also ideal for those who are away at a wedding. How many weddings have you attended in an Irish city you don’t know, where you’ve spent hours looking up the nearest hairdresser or make-up artist, only to find they are booked out when you need them? The GlamMe vision is very simple – it's full glam at your door.”
According to Maynard, GlamMe is not setting out to replace the in-salon experience. “We are not trying to play down the more expensive and lengthy experience of sitting in a salon and getting a full pampering – there is nothing quite like it and it is worth every minute and penny! We believe that our freelance pros can do both.
“Working with GlamMe is a completely different experience, as it gives them complete control of their chosen hours and catchment areas. So they can work around their own schedules, picking up as much or as little work as they want to alongside their day jobs, other freelance work, or family and personal appointments. If a person only wants one quick weekly job with GlamMe, that’s OK.”
Maynard believes that working with GlamMe is also a great networking opportunity and it exposes the professionals to new clients who may not have heard about their work before.
“It’s a chance to build an extensive portfolio, from weddings to office headshots. And while working your own hours and locations, GlamMe take care of all the bookings and advertising.”
GlamMe is launching and taking bookings from May 2023. “With many pros signed up already, we are looking to expand across Ireland in time, advertising in hotels and tourist hotspots, as well as locally, while also having a strong online presence.”
